Where were you that Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001?

Think about a moment that you will never forget, when something so significant in your life got your attention and gets your attention still, something you will not, cannot forget.

What is it that Christians will never forget, cannot forget?

On Christmas Eve we sing “Silent Night” and take ourselves to the small town of Bethlehem where the most precious Word of Life was heard crying in a manger.

On Good Friday we sing the African American spiritual, “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord,” and take ourselves to a hill called Calvary where the most precious Word of Life breathed his last and died forgiving.  

This Sunday, we will once again take ourselves to the last meal this most precious Word of Life ate with his closest friends.  

And we will remember.  

We will remember that what happened there mattered, and has continued to matter, and will continue to matter.

For this most precious Word of Life took on flesh and moved into our neighbourhood and healed and taught and prayed and ate with sinners and upset religious leaders and confounded his followers.  This most precious Word of Life cleared his throat from a tomb and ended silence.
